gratitude and kindness
FYI in advance this is totes corny. SPOILER ALERT.
I have been (for lack of a better word) meditating on two very powerful things lately: gratitude and kindness (total snooze, right?).
I don’t think that we include enough of either in our lives; well at least I know that I don’t.
We all get so consumed by where we are going, or what goals we want to accomplish, that we forget to be present and recognize all of the gifts we have already been given. Whenever I get caught up and frusturated I find it really helps to sit back, breathe, and be grateful for everything that is going right.
NONE of us are on the wrong track; we are all exactly where we need to be. Everything always turns out ok. So what is the point in stressing? What is the point in bemoaning what we havent accomplished yet? Your life is going to take you where it takes you.
The one thing that really is important is kindness. If we are all here to just live our lives and be happy, then the simplest way to achieve this is by being nicer to each other. Smile, help, forgive, listen, support. I actually think kindness is a little bit selfish, because it feels so good when you do it.
Easier said than done. Totally. We get down, we berate ourselves, we forget to think outside of our limited spheres. But I think it is kind of like a muscle that needs to be trained. It takes practice.
SO maybe next time you are feeling frustrated about your career or traffic or money, you will remember this corny little tumblr post…and then you will help your neighbor carry their groceries in, and you will feel grateful for how something so simple can be so rewarding.
